| I wish to pursue a career in the medical field, preferably in the Huntsville or Birmingham area given the facilities and opportunities. My number one choice is to become a certified registered nurse anesthetist. My research indicates CRNAs are in high demand with excellent salary and ability to get a job soon after graduating and passing my CRNA exam. In this scenario, I will complete my BS in Nursing from UAH and apply to UAB' s CRNA program. I know UAH has an excellent nursing program and UAB has an excellent CRNA program. I hope to be selected for the Early Promotion into UAH Nursing Program ( EPNP) as I have met the requirements as I understand them with my 3.89 GPA and 29 ACT score. I believe a career in CRNA combines my analytical abilities with my desire to help people. This job has fascinated me since I was given anesthesia for a surgery to remove a bone tumor on my right femur. I would love to be able to give others the same great experience that I had. My second career choice is physical therapy. I' m very interested in learning about the human musculature and skeletal systems. Physical therapy would fulfill my desire to learn about the human anatomy as well as my desire to help people. Physical therapists, like CRNAs, will be in great demand in the near future. In fact, employment of physical therapists is projected to grow 36 percent from 2012 to 2022. This will make it easier to find a job quickly in our economy. I realize that a doctorate is now required in physical therapy to meet all requirements. If I get my BS at UAH, and meet all of the requirements, I will then apply to UAB' s doctor of physical therapy degree. Then to fully become a physical therapist, I must pass the National Physical Therapy Examination ( NPTE) to become a licensed practitioner. I understand that getting accepted into UAB' s doctor of physical therapy degree is highly competitive and a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater in my Bachelor' s degree is recommended. I believe my high school education from a quality school has prepared me to meet and exceed minimum GPA requirements. I have been a dual enrollee at UAH since the summer following my junior year of high school. I took two classes at UAH during the summer of 2014. Made A's in both. I am currently taking one class this fall at UAH as a high school senior. I will take one class in spring 2015 at UAH, and plan to additional classes at UAH in the summer of 2015 immediately following high school graduation. | ||
